Pharmacological Action: bronchodilator K = kapha pitta samaka, pitta vardhaka, vata pitta samaka, varnya, kustaghana, sothaharaa, dipana, pacana, krmighana, vidahi, samaka, trisanigraha, grahi jvaraghana; emmenagogue, anthelmintic(esp threadworms), stimulant, astringent, febrifuge, tonic, cooling, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, hypoglycemic, abortifacient, antiinflammatory; sprouts and seeds are laxative, lekhana ( scraping)

Indications (Uses): bronchiectisis, asthma, post nasal drip, asthmatic bronchitis, emphysema K = hematemesis, to induce lochia after childbirth, threadworms, and other parasites, diseases of blood, leukoderma, infalmmatoroy urinary discharges, hectic fever, pthisis (= TB), asthma, paralytic complaints, ringworm affections to skin, bleeding gums, painful conditions of joints, as eyewash, bronchitis, gonorrhea, fever, earache, deafness; leaves mixed with black pepper and common salt checks diarrhea in cattle

Contraindications (Cautions): sciatica, gastritis, ascites, colitis

Constituents: silaca, silacum, peroxide of Fe, potash, lime, aluminia, veg matter, cholin, betain,etc K= contains silica 90% or silicum as hydrate of silicic acid, peroxide of iron, potash, lime, aluminia, vegetable matter, cholin, betain, nuclease, urease, proteolytic enzyme, diastatic and emulsifying enzyme, cyanogentic glucoside, and an unnamed alkaloid
