Pharmacological Action: antitubercular,alterative, tonic, astringent, carminative (root), laxative (flowers) blood cleanser -increases erythrocytes, antipyretic does ropana = heals ulceration K = gundmala naska, kapha pitta samaka, vrana sodhana, kutabhana, stambhana, krmighana, anulomana, rakta stambhana, kaphaghana, mutra sanghraniya; bark is alterative, tonic, astringent; root is carminatiave; flowers are laxative alcoholic extract of stem bark is anticancer to human epidermal carcinoma of the nasopharynx in vitro, CNS depressant; hypothermic to rats

Indications (Uses): TB, prolapse of rectum, thyroid toxic goiter, low grade fever, peptic and duodenal ulcer, matted lymph nodes, prolapse of uterus, lymph edema, mediastinal edenopathy, doughy abdomen, alternate constipation and diarrhea, dysentery(amebic or bacilary), ulcerative colitis, Hodgkin's Dis (lymph tissue is affected)., breast lump, leukemia (lymphatic or myeloid), dyspepsia, spleenomegaly,/salivation,cough, bleeding piles, hematuria, menorrhagia, scrofalous enlargement of neck glands,ulcers, skin diseases,

Contraindications (Cautions): hyper and hypothyroidism

Constituents: tannin (tanic acid), glucose, gum K = Seeds yield 6%-16.5% fatty oil depending on extracation, isoquercitin, astragalin from fresh flowers, and 3-glucoside
